Email Forwarding

Getting started

Email forwarding is a Pro feature. To set it up:

1. Open Settings in Shiori
2. Find the Email forwarding section
3. Click Generate address — you'll get a unique address like [email protected]
4. Copy the address and save it as a contact in your phone or email app (e.g. "Shiori Inbox") so it's easy to forward things later

That's it. Forward any email to your address and it will appear in Shiori as a saved link with a clean reader view.

Auto-forward newsletters from Gmail

Instead of forwarding emails manually, you can set up Gmail to automatically send certain newsletters straight to Shiori — and archive them in Gmail so they never clutter your inbox.

Step 1: Add your Shiori address as a forwarding address

1. In Gmail, go to Settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP (direct link)
2. Click Add a forwarding address and enter your @inbox.shiori.sh address
3. Gmail will send a confirmation email to Shiori — open it in your Shiori inbox and click the confirmation link
4. Go back to Gmail settings and make sure the forwarding address shows as Confirmed
5. Keep the default forwarding option set to Disable forwarding — you'll use a filter instead of forwarding everything

Step 2: Create a filter to auto-forward specific emails

1. In Gmail, go to Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses (direct link)
2. Click Create a new filter
3. In the From field, enter the sender's email address (e.g. [email protected]) — you can also use multiple addresses separated by OR, like [email protected] OR [email protected]
4. Click Create filter
5. Check Forward it to and select your @inbox.shiori.sh address
6. Optionally check Skip the Inbox (Archive it) to keep your Gmail inbox clean
7. Optionally check Also apply filter to matching conversations to forward past emails too
8. Click Create filter

Recommended setup

For the cleanest workflow, set up a filter that:

• Forwards matching emails to your Shiori address
• Skips the inbox (archives them in Gmail)

This way newsletters go directly to Shiori where you can read them in a clean format, and your Gmail inbox stays focused on emails that need a reply.

Tips

• Forwarding manually? Save your Shiori address as a contact so it auto-completes when you forward
• Newsletters only? You can forward any email — meeting notes, receipts, articles — anything with content worth saving
• Reader view: Every forwarded email gets a clean reader view in Shiori, stripped of tracking pixels and email clutter
• AI features: Forwarded emails work with Shiori's AI chat and search, just like any other saved link
